This stacking runner chair, model no. 410, is
based on the Arnold model 3036, which was
created during the period of the close cooperation
between Marcel Breuer and L.&C.
Arnold. Significantly, the mensa chair 410
is also a further development of the popular
model 409, which was modified by designer
Rainer Zahrend of Bauhaus in co-operation
with Uve Jacubke of Arnold Stendal in
1984/85 for Bauhaus in Dessau.
Over 1000 runner chairs remain in use there
today, including in the Gropius room, the
Bauhaus workshop, the Preller-Haus and in
the offices. They are also much used in the
Bauhaus Aula for special events and panel
discussions.
